: Day 1 (A new adventure and new life to begin!)

Recently my mom and my sister began a program where they have both seen some great weight loss successes.
My mom has lost 10 pounds and my sister has lost around 14 (if I remember correctly).  Now 10 pounds may not seem like a lot, but for my mom, it has been the FINAL 10 pounds that she has been trying to lose for years!  She's finally done it and reports that she is feeling great.

Of course seeing/hearing their successes I got curious as to what they were on and what they were doing.

Last year I committed to myself to get off the couch and to become more active.  I spent most evenings last summer climbing the hill to the state capitol and then dropping down into Memory Grove and jogging up into City Creek Canyon, then looping back around and ending up back at my house.  The entire round trip is 5 miles EXACTLY.  In about six months time I had logged around 500 miles total walking/jogging/crawling.. whatever it took to get myself through the 5 miles each day.

Winter hit and I got myself a membership at the local community rec center.  I vowed I would NOT lose momentum but found the winter months more difficult to commit.  Treadmills are just so boring.  A minute on one and I feel like an hour has passed.  It was sheer torture but I kept to it.  By February 2013 I had gone from 296 pounds down to 259 pounds. That is a 37 pound drop in weight!!!  Here is a little picture to give you some physical proof of my diligence.

As most of you know I LOVE to eat.  I would have dropped more weight had I not been stuffing my face at almost every possible moment.

Now back to my story.  February rolled around and I went on a trip to Disneyland!!!!

Disney February 2013

As soon as I got back, I got really sick.   I was then sick for about two months with some sort of flu/cold that would not let go.  This caused me to lose momentum and I stopped going to the gym and I comforted myself by stuffing my face.  Fast forward to today and I am back to being a fatty!  I am currently back up to 283 pounds.

June 9, 2013

Yeah, I know...  Who wants to see a fat white boy with his shirt off?  Certainly not me, but if I do not put it out there, then I will not be accountable to change it!  So there you are.  My "before" pictures.  I have many, many more, but I will spare you for the time being.

So back to my story (again)!  I finally became intrigued enough with what my mom and sister were doing to ask.  I was sent a link to a company website and guess what?!?!?  It turns out to be a multi level marketing (MLM) program.  AUGH!

If there is ONE thing in this world that I am NOT a fan of, it's MLM programs also known as pyramid schemes.

The company they are involved with is called Xyngular.  Now before we go any further.  FEAR NOT!  I am not here to try and sell you anything!  I am not here to try and talk you into anything! In fact, I am probably MORE skeptical than you are, but I'll tell you what...  I am to the end of my rope with this weight thing.  I have yo yo-ed up and down far too many times.  It's unhealthy for me to continue the way I have.  I have checked out these products and found that the products are good, natural, healthy, and in all other ways wholesome.  I am willing to look past the MLM portion and to try the products.

I finally have gotten over my February illness but what didn't return with my fair health was any sort of desire or drive to get out and be active.  I am fat, depressed, anxious, in pain (back and knee) and my gout has flared up again, not to mention that even though I'm on medication, my blood pressure is once again NOT under control.  Nothing in my life is under control.

I am a food addict and have been for a long long time.  It has only been within the past year that I have been able to admit that.

As for this Xyngular stuff.  I have done some research.  I have checked out the website, I have reviewed the products, hell, I have even gone to one of their seminars!  It all seems to check out.  It certainly helps to know some close family members who have seen personal success on the program.

I have decided to give it a whirl!  I purchased a months supply of the product and figure I'll give it a month, use all of the products up and see how I look and how I feel at then end.  The company does have a money back guarantee as well, but I really have no idea how easy it would be to get my money back if I am in fact unsatisfied.  I'm going on a leap of faith.  I'm going to give it a try.  It really cannot hurt.  The worse that could happen is that at the end of the month I am in the same spot I am today.  By the way... I didn't have to "buy in" to the MLM to get my product.  I was able to order it without having to sign my life away.

Today is Sunday June 9th and today I have begun my Xyngular journey.  I have done my homework and have totally planned out what I am going to do.

The company has an IGNITE starter pack that you can purchase (It's a months supply of stuff).  It has an 8 day jump start program built into that supply.  Here is what the stuff looked like when it showed up on my doorstep.

Simply put; the Ignite program is pills, protein drinks, and a formulary magical juice mix of about 500 exotic healing fruits.  Well, ok.. not really.. but it's a juice made out of fruits.  They have it all mapped out as to what you take and when through out the day.  You also eat several protein snacks/mini meals as the day progresses.

Anyway.. I know this posting is getting long, but it's the start of my journey and it has been a long process to get to this point so you ALL get to suffer right along with me.

In preparation for the start of this program I wanted to set myself up to SUCCEED.

Yesterday I went shopping and purchased all the food I will need for the next week or two (or longer). I bought protein rich tuna, turkey sandwich meat, string cheese, ground turkey, frozen turkey burgers, and chicken breast.  I also bought a bunch of baggies so that I could pre-measure all of the goodies and have them ready in the fridge each day.  It really wasn't that difficult and if any of you know how lazy I am when it comes to food prep, you will understand that if it weren't easy, I wouldn't do it!

So today I did all the heavy lifting so to speak and bagged everything up and have it ready to go pre-portioned in my fridge.  The 8 day starter program also has a GREEN component to the daily snack/mini meals.  I just purchased big buckets of spring mix and baby spinach and then measured it out into storage containers. The guide suggests 1 cup of greens with each protein snack, but I opted to do two cups.  Here.. take a look:

I also COOKED some chicken breasts and cut them up into cubes and put those in baggies as well.

My little sack of stuff is already sitting in my fridge for tomorrow morning.  It's got all my pills and shake stuff and mini meals ready to go!

Here is a look at my first mini meal.  It's sliced turkey, string cheese and my greens.

6oz-8oz protein plus leafy greens serving

Something tells me that I am not going to get hungry while on this program.  I get two of these meals a day plus two or three protein shakes and a crap load of water and pills!

So....  My commitment to all of you is this.  Today is the first day of this new journey.  I commit to stay on this stuff until it runs out (about a month).  I will try to keep you posted as to how I feel and what is happening each day (or at least each week).  I will also try to keep it interesting with pictures and any secret short cuts I find along the way.  I will not cheat on this program and I will see it through to the end!
