Thoughts for the day
Usually it's while driving to and from work that I remember funny little things that happened yesterday, the day before, or at some point along the path I call my life.
I'm not the best journal keeper and so much of the funny parts of my life fall between the cracks only to be remembered by those who may have been around to experience the happenings.
Almost like clock work, at least once a day I visit the Chevron just up the street from my apartment to refill my 64oz cup with Diet Coke. There is this cute little Asian man who works there named "Sha". Somewhere along the way he made the determination that me and my roommate "Phil" are brothers. Maybe this is because I am tall and so is Phil. Perhaps it's because I am a big boy and so is Phil. I'm really not sure "why" Sha thinks we are brothers but he does. So whenever I go in alone, Sha always says something like "Hiya Maawk", "How aah u today?" "Where's you brudda Phil?". This has gone on for several months and so Phil and I have just decieded to go along with it and pretend we are brothers when we go to Chevron. Well... Apparently Sha had discussed us with other employees there as well. Now they all think we are brothers. Phil likes those little refill stamp cards (buy ten and get a free refill) and I hate them and can't be bothered. Sha has made it is mission to make sure that for every refill I get, Phil gets a stamp on his card. If Phil isn't with me Sha says something like "I will make sure you brudda Phil get a stamp next time he come in". It's endearing.
Last week Phil and I went to Cafe Rio for dinner. This is another business that he and I often frequent together. There is a little Hispanic guy behind the counter there each time we go. We are there so often that he's memorized our order. I always get the chicken salad with half pinto, half black beans and Phil gets the pork salad with half pinto and half black beans. This little Hispanic dude is always very friendly to us and last time we were there, he turned to the employee next to him and informed the employee that Phil and I are not just amigo's, he told the guy that we are BROTHERS. I guess it's spreading. Perhaps next it will be the Target employees that are commenting on Phil and I being siblings.
Well.. I guess that is the end of my pointless posting today.
Phil and I have an ongoing joke... when we first became roommates everyone assumed that we were boyfriends or partners. So we started telling people that we are "just roommates" and that we aren't even friends. Maybe this is just funny to us, but we really are just roommates, there is no hanky panky that has or will occur between us. I guess you could say that I see him as more of a brother than anything else. Perhaps this is why the local Chevron and Cafe Rio employees seem to think we are related.
As roommates a lot of stupid and funny stuff happens when Phil and I are together. In the future I'll post our experiences from the McDonalds drive thru as well as our adventures stalking a hottie in the Sugarhouse area and of the theft and safe return of the hotties lawn gnomes.
